Post-secondary ECE programs are recognized based on compliance with the Nova Scotia Post Secondary Standards for Early Childhood Education. A "training program in Early Childhood Education" means one of the following:

• Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education (formerly St. Joseph's College of ECE);
• Institute for Human Services Education - Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
• Mount Saint Vincent University - Bachelor of Applied Arts, Child and Youth Study;
• Nova Scotia Community College - Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
• Island Career Academy - Diploma in Early Childhood Education; and
